Exchange program 2026 Netherlands

On February 1, we started the exchange by picking up the Dutch students at the train station. The next day, we showed them around our school and then headed to the city centre. We worked on our presentations about the differences between the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.Creative activities such as Cooking, Pottery, Art and PE were also part of the program. On the last day, we all had lunch together at a restaurant near our school.

About a month later, we flew to the Netherlands. On the first full day, they showed us their school, and in the afternoon we went sightseeing. We visited several museums, all of which were very interesting. We also spent time at the beach, which was beautiful. On the last day, we presented our projects and enjoyed a pancake lunch together.

For me, it was a wonderful experience, and I think it helped me speak more confidently.

Norimberk

Ich war im Advent in Deutschland. Wir waren in Nürnberg. Dort haben wir Christkindelmarkt besucht. Der Weihnachtsmarkt war sehr schön. Ich habe mir einen kleinen Holzlöffel gekauft. Ich habe auch Magneten gekauft. Ich habe mir sonst vor allem Essen gekauft. Die Stände hatten viele leckere Sachen. Wir waren auch auf der Burg. Die Burg war groß und hatte eine tolle Aussicht auf die Stadt. Außerdem haben wir eine Fabrik für Lebkuchen besucht. Dort konnten wir sehen, wie Lebkuchen gemacht werden. Es hat gut gerochen. 

Dann waren wir auch in Rothenburg. Rothenburg ist eine sehr schöne alte Stadt.  Noch haben wir Kloster Weltenburg besucht. Das Kloster war ruhig und interessant. 

 Mir hat der Ausflug sehr gefallen. Der Ausflug war super. Ich wäre gerne noch länger dort bleiben.

England (Ilfracombe) and Belgium (Bruggy)

On the first day, we left the Czech Republic. It was a noisy night. In the morning, we visited Bruggy in Belgium. We spent one night in France and in the morning, we took a bus to Stonehenge. We took some beautiful pictures. After that we headed off to our host families.

In the morning, we had school and after school we went to the Milky Way Adventure Park. It was a lot of fun. The next day we had school again and after school we visited a town called Clovelly where we bought some souvenirs. After that we got onto the bus again and we went to a town called Barnstaple. It was a very busy town with a lot of shops. In the evening, we went back to Ilfracombe to our host families.

The sixth day we went to school for the last time. After school we went to a national park called Exmoor. After that we visited a beautiful port Lynmouth from where we travelled through a steep cable car to Lynton. From there we went for a walk in the Valley of Rocks. It was really high but really fun. We also saw a goat.

The next day we went to London. London was very beautiful and there were many tourists. We saw the Big Ben, the London Eye, Chinatown and so many other things. In the evening, we took off back to Prague, and we were in Prague in the afternoon the next day.

 It was the best trip ever!

Exchange programme in Holland

On February 2. the Dutch students arrived at the train station and the week began.

We did a tour around the center of Prague and had a ton of free time to show them stuff we didn´t have time to see with the class. Out of the week we spent two days in school. First we did presentations with our Exchange student comparing things here in Czechia and in the Netherlands. The second day in school, we had fun lessons like art, cooking, pottery and P.E. On Thursday everyone had diner together and on Friday they took the train back to the Netherlands.

 Even though I had fun i was really tired after because the whole week you need to plan what you can do when you have free time and over all you are responsible for the Exchange student. By the end of March we were flying to spend a week there. Their program was much more about free time and i would say it wasn´t as organized as ours was but i still liked it. We went to the beach and visited Amsterdam. We were staying in a town named Leiden and it was really nice, the houses were so different from the ones in Prague. After a week we flew back, the whole experience was great, I even got to know some of the Czech students from other classes that I didn´t talk to before. The difficult part is communication, learning English in school is very different from talking in English with someone who can´t understand Czech, so I’m glad I could try it out

England - York

Like every year, we went to the UK. We visited York, a picturesque town that charmed us with its atmosphere. The children enjoyed the local sights and shopping. Each day they visited the school where they enjoyed project-based learning and expanded their vocabulary. They got to know the families' lives and cuisine. We really enjoyed the ruins of Whitby Castle, the Sea world in Scarborough and of course tasting traditional fish and chips. We finished our language stay with a day trip in London. The children were really excited about it. We managed to organise this trip twice to satisfy as many kids as possible.

Notre voyage à Strasbourg en mai 2024.

Les élèves de français de 7e, 8e et 9e classes.

À la fin de mai 2024, nous avons réalisé un voyage à Strasbourg pour améliorer notre français. Nous avons étudié le français tous les matins à l’école de langue CIEL et les après-midis, nous avons visité plein d’endroits. Lundi, nous avons d´abord mangé unplat typique de lanrégion - la tarte flambée aux oignons et aux lardons, puis c’était la visite ludique avec une guide enthousiaste et très sympa. Nous avons découvert la ville de Strasbourg, la Petite France avec son architecture du moyen-âge et la cathédrale rose. Mardi, nous avons pris le tram jusqu’au Parlement Européen, dont nous allons apporter le témoignage dans cet article. Mercredi nous sommes allés à Colmar, une ville historique où nous avons visité surtout le Musée d’Unterlinden, où nous avons pu admirer le fameux Retable d’Issenheim. Et jeudi, nous avons passé l’après-midi à Munster, un village de fromage, où nous avons découvert la fabrication du fromage Munster et nous l’avons également dégusté. Nous avons eu en plus chaque jour une tâche à compléter pour améliorer encore davantage notre capacité de communiquer en français. En groupes, nous avons abordé les gens dans les rues et nous leur avons posé des questions sur thèmes, comme “le petit déjeuner”, “les loisirs” et “la famille”. Nous devons dire que c’était une vraie aventure.

Et voilà quelques informations sur le Parlement Européen de Strasbourg qui est le siège principal de l’Union européenne. Nous avons été éblouis par la beauté de son architecture. Le bâtiment est depuis 1999 nommé d’après Louise Weiss, une femme écrivain et politicienne qui a consacré sa vie aux valeurs européennes et aux droits des femmes, qui a influencé la politique internationale et qui, en 1979, à 86 ans, est devenue membre du Parlement européen.

Étant construite sur l’axe de la cathédrale de Strasbourg, cette architecture moderne est conçue comme un navire, un bateau qui est toujours en route. La tour ovale est inachevée, comme l’UE est un organisme vivant, en changement perpétuel, toujours en développement, mais la hauteur de la tour est la même que celle de la cathédrale. La salle des députés, toute ronde, a une forme d'amphithéâtre. Le cercle est le symbole de l’unité de tous les pays membres. Dans la chambre des députés, il y a 705 sièges.

Au centre, à l’intérieur du bâtiment, une rivière symbolique coule - remplie de plantes- des monstera. Cette rivière,  représente non seulement le Rhin qui est omniprésent à Strasbourg et qui est un élément connecteur, mais aussi  le mouvement à l’avant constant.

Notre jeune guide a été très sympathique et nous a vraiment bien expliqué la symbolique et le fonctionnement de ce beau bâtiment où se passent tous les jours une grande quantité de réunions et où les décisions importantes sont prises.

Holandsko očima dětí

In the year 2024 we visited the Netherlands for an exhange program. We lived with the families of the exchange students in the city Leiden. The program took place in Leiden, Amsterdam and a city by the beach called Katwijk. All of us improved our English and got a taste of life in the Netherlands. None of us wanted to leave during the departure because we all had such a wonderful time.

Advent v Rakousku

Vergnügungsfahrt nach Wolfgang

Die zauberhafte Vorweihnachtszeit in Österreich fang bereits an, wobei in meiner lieben Heimat lediglich Supermärkte die Weihnachtsstimmung mit ihrem Warenangebot an Adventskalender und an anderen weihnachtlichen Süßigkeiten heben versuchen. Gemäß der Tatsache, dass mir kein größerer Weihnachtsliebhaber als meine Wenigkeit bekannt ist, war von Anfang an meine Anwesenheit auf der Reise nach Wolfgang vorhersagbar. Angesichts meiner Vorliebe für die deutsche Sprache konnte ich trotz der schaurigen Wettervorhersage nicht das Angebot, meine Deutschkenntnisse nach langer Zeit wieder anwenden zu können, ablehnen.

Und ich muss zugeben, dass mich die einmalige Schönheit der niedlichen Häuser am Wolfgangsee verblüffte und die Weihnachtsstimmung in mir weckte.

Wir hatten die Gelegenheit, sowohl Wolfgang als auch die Städte Sankt Gilgen und Strobl an dem gegenüberliegenden Ufer des Wolfgangsees zu entdecken. Die Begleiterin weihte uns erst ein bisschen in die Geschichte der salzburgischen Städte ein und dann wurde uns gestattet, allein auf die Spur der geheimnisvollen Winkel der Stadt zu kommen.

Also erstmal ein Restaurant finden, wo ich zu mir eine köstliche, erwärmende Suppe nehme. Und dann los!

Durch die leuchtende Stadt zu flanieren und einfach die Atmosphäre und das österreichische Flair aufzusaugen, erfreute mich sehr. An jeder Ecke stand ein Händler mit der traditionellen Handwerkskunst, der uns seine Waren wie z. B. handgemachten Weihnachtsschmuck feilbot.

Darüber hinaus ließ sich einer von den verlockenden Düften der Leckereien verführen. Gebrannte Mandeln, traditioneller österreichischer Kaiserschmarrn oder Glühwein standen dort zum Angebot. Ich persönlich kostete eine Brezel, die sehr lecker schmeckte.

Das Wetter wurde uns aber bedauerlicherweise zum Verhängnis. Es regnete und schneite und ich habe mir dabei unglücklicherweise kalten Fuß geholt.

Nichtsdestotrotz genoss ich den ein Tag dauernden Ausflug wunderbar und beabsichtige, auch im kommenden Sommer den Wolfgangsee zu besuchen!

Chester (2)

Chester - očima našich žáků ze 7.B

 On the first day we rode the bus. It was really boring. … We rode a ferry too. After we arrived we went on a roman tour of the amphitheatre and baths. After that we went shopping and it was quite fun. We had some anazing cinnamon buns with vanilla cream. I forgot to add that before that we walked on an old wall and it was nice. My favourites were probably the brick houses. (Anna 7.B)

Day 2: We have language classes. I like it. We had one hour with a teacher and the second one with another techer. We had two women. In the third class we were doing something difficult but it was fun. (Perchta 7.B)

Then we went to football stadium FC Liverpool. I liked it becasue I play football. So it was one of my biggest dreams to go to any football stadium in another coutry. And Liverpool city was so cool, it looked so modern – a liittle bit like in Dubai. (Petra 7.B)

Day 3: After school our bus rode us to Wales. We were in Llandudno where a historical Great Orme Tramway rode us to some hills. It was really windy there….We continued to mines (old copper mines from the bronze era) It was really dark and dangerous too, so we had to have helmets on. (Jana 7.B)

Day 4: We drove to the castle Conwy. It was cool there but I´m not the castle type … (Petra 7.B)

We went too Snowdonia National Park. It was lovely there. Trees, a lake, rocks and just our group. (Jana 7.B)

Day 5: In the afternoon we went to Llangollen (to see an old aquaduct). The weather was not good for us at all. It was pouring – like a bucket. We went by boat. The boat could hold 50 people and had a kitchen and a toilet. … But we sailed slower than the people who were walking next to us ( I mean on a bridge where there was water and a nini footpath next to it.) Day 6: We had to wake up so early ( at 5 am) because we went to London. … We rode for five hours I think. We arrived at 11 o´clock. First we went to London eye. …Later we went to Buckingham Palace. We went through the park and there were a lot of squirrels! They were so cute! (Markéta 7.B)

I really liked this trip. There were parts that I liked more and some I liked less. But it was an amazing trip!!! (Anna)

Chester (1)

We have visited England with our school in October. We saw there many amazing places like: London, Chester, Liverpool and a part of Wales.

We travelled through all of these parts either by walking or by a bus which we had rented for the whole week.

We also had school for 3 days, but it was just in the mornings. We played games and they corrected our grammar. The family I stayed with was really nice and my classmates said the same thing about their families. They prepared food for us like sausages, cheeseburgers, pasta …

During the day we had a packed lunch. The best place was London. It is really beautiful. I really loved the experience and improved my English a lot.

Voyage à Monpellier, l´ouverture au monde et aux nouvelles amitiés

Lundi, 22 mai: Je me suis réveillée ce matin en France : nouveau pays, nouveaux sentiments! Natálka, 8. A.

Le premier jour, nous sommes arrivés au Pont du Gard, un aqueduc construit par les Romains. Il a fait très chaud. Nous avons mis nos pieds dans l'eau et nous avons mangé une glace. Nous avons visité le musée du Pont et vu une vidéo sur son histoire. Julie, 9. C.

Mardi, 23 mai: Le deuxième jour après le petit déjeuner nous sommes allés pour la première fois à l'école. La professeure a été très sympathique. L'enseignement a été intéressant. Puis nous avons mangé le déjeuner à la Place de la Comédie. L´après-midi nous avons visité une petite ville, Saintes Maries de la Mer. Nous avons visité l’église de Saint Sara, nous nous sommes prommenés dans la ville, enfin nous avons voyagé sur un bateau. C'était une excellente expérience, nous avons pu voir la côte, ensuite nous sommes entrés dans le Petit Rhône pour observer des chevaux blancs, des toreaux noirs et des flamants roses sur les berges. De retour au camping, nous avons nagé dans la mer.  Bára, 9. B.

Mercredi, 24 mai: Après les cours du matin et le déjeuner (sur la belle Place de la Comédie il y a plein d´endroits pour manger), au programme la découverte de la ville de Montpellier. Avec notre guide, nous avons visité la Cathédrale Saint Pierre de Montpellier, dans lequel on a trouvé une statue de Saint Roch, le patron de la ville. Ensuite la faculté de médecine, qui juxte la cathédrale et qui date du treizième siecle, des belles rues, l´aqueduc, le parc. Ensuite nous sommes allés en car au bord de la mer. Nous avons visité une ferme à huitres. Le propriétaire nous a parlé de l´ostréiculture et nous avons pu déguster les huitres.“ Toník, 9. B.

Jeudi, 25 mai: L´apres - midi, nous sommes allés à Arles, une ancienne ville. Nous y avons visité des monuments romains: l´église et le Cloître Saint-Trophime, le théâtre antique, les arènes où on a vu un combat de gladiateurs. Tadeáš, 8. C.

Vendredi, 26 mai: Le matin c´est est horreur. Je me léve à 6:00 heures, je fais le ménage, je fais mes bagages, c´est très difficile. Alors, le dernier jour à l´école de langues… À midi, je déjeune un panini. L´après-midi nous visitons Avignon. Il y a le Pont Saint-Bénézet, la Tour de la Porte du Rocher et le Palais des Papes. Lukáš, 7. A.

Le pont était magnifique et nous avons dansé dessus. C´était super ! Puis nous avons eu une heure et donc moi avec mes amis sommes allés au carroussel. Nous avons mangé de la glace. Finalement, nous avons tous joué à un quiz. Notre groupe a gagné et j´ai été contente ! Diana, 9. A.

J´ai aimé toutes les villes que nous avons visités, mais la plus belle ville pour moi, c´est Avignon. J´aime le palais, le pont, ils sont à couper le souffle. La seule chose qui m´a surpris, c´était le nombre de monuments dans les villes. Wow ! Toník, 9. B.

Mon activité préférée du soir, c´était le volley-ball à la plage ! C´était le meilleur voyage scolaire qu j´ai jamais vécu. J´ai beaucoup d´expériences et de nouveaux amis d´une autre école. Merci. Natálka, 8. A.

Exchange programme in the Netherlands

I participated in this programme in 2023. I really enjoyed being there in May, then in February, because the Netherlands is more spring country than the city of Prague.

Language:

For exercising and training English, this programme is great. You have to speak all the time. It is not really polite to speak Czech behind your exchange students' backs. They have really good English and you can catch every new word you don't know.

However, going there to learn the language is not a good idea. They don't want to spend time teaching you the language. It is much better to go there with some level of English. But our school is able to teach you this level, so don't be worried.

The country:

Seeing the country with this programme is great. Living in a smaller city is really nice, because you can see the typical Dutch infrastructure of the city. Amsterdam is much more crowded than Leiden, so you aren't able to see the great usage of bikes. In Leiden however, the biking system around the city is spectacular! You can get everywhere in the city in 30 minutes. They have separate roads and cyclists have much more respect for the bikes, than here in the Czech Republic. The city of Leiden is a really nice city. It is able to show you almost every typical Dutch food including food, architecture, culture, infrastructure etc. The all day trip to Amsterdam was pretty good, but Leiden is a much better city to live in as the students that participated in this programme said. Overall, when it is your first time being there, they will put a big effort on showing their country throughout the whole exchange. 

School programme:

The school programme was always except one whole day trip in the morning. The main topic is cultural differences and I think it's a great topic, because you can learn a lot about their culture and living in the Netherlands. But as the weather was changing a lot, the programme was not flexible enough. We had to have a boat trip in Leiden, when it was raining a lot. It would be better to go bowling that day and instead of bowling, we would go on a boat trip in nice weather. Bu

t even when this happened, I enjoyed the school programme anyway. 

Overall:

I enjoyed the whole programme in Prague and in Leiden. I learned a lot about their culture and I met pretty nice people. It's really well made from both sides and the teachers did a good job. I would recommend this programme.

Adventní Vídeň

Koncem listopadu vyjeli němčináři na poznávací zájezd do Vídně. Během bohatého programu navštívili Schönbrunn, muzeum Time Travel, galerii Albertina, Stephansdom a Prater. Užili si atmosféru adventních trhů a měli možnost "pošprechtit" si německy.

Francouzský den – závěrečná školní slavnost všech žáků a učitelů francouzštiny

V červnu 2021 jsme se všemi ročníky a skupinami uspořádali « Francouzský den». Program projektového dne zajišťovali především žáci pro sebe navzájem, s podporou vyučujících. Na programu bylo společné vaření francouzských palačinek, sportovní hry, pétanque, vědomostní kvíz, dílna divadelní improvizace, dramatické prezentace všech tříd a závěrečný piknik. Den se vydařil a předsvědčili jsme se, že francouzština napříč ročníky může žáky stmelovat.

Tři králové po francouzsku

V prvním lednovém týdnu si francouzštináři ze všech skupin zažili svátek Tří králů (Epiphanie) podle francouzské tradice.

Ve školní kuchyňce si přichystali tříkrálový koláč (Galette des Rois) podle francouzských receptur.

Některé skupinky zvolily klasičtější marcipánovou náplň, jiné jablkovou. V žádném tříkrálovém koláči nechyběla porcelánová figurka (la fève).

Ten, kdo ve svém kousku galette našel figurku, stal se králem nebo královnou.

Všechny koláče, galettes, byly nádherně vyzdobené, dali jsme si záležet.

Než se koláč upekl, naučili jsme se zpívat i tradiční tříkrálovou píseň.

Zvláštní pochvala patří chlapcům z 9. tříd, kteří při čekání na galette vyrobili ze zbytků těsta skvělá jablka v županu.

2nd trip to England

 Our trip to England began with a long and crowded coach journey, thankfully we had Harry Potter playing on the coach TV to get us through the night and into the English frame of mind. We arrived to a breathtaking sunrise on the white cliffs of Dover, a sight which should never be taken for granted, and the students happily started taking in the first of many authentic British moments whilst us, the teachers, started clutching the first of many cups of British coffee. Our journey continued onward until we arrived in our hometown for the next week, Stratford-upon-Avon, otherwise known as the birthplace of Shakespeare. The students had an hour to themselves to refuel before our day's activities began. Of course, the nearest Poundland became besieged by our group. We never thought we would see the boys so excited over pens, but one hundred pens for one hundred pennies soon changed that. After we had finished raiding Poundland, we got back to the more cultural side of things. We stepped back in time when visiting Shakespeare's house on a guided tour and explored the place where the playwright who shaped the English language grew up. In Anne Hathaway's house we saw where the love of his life resided. Then, lastly, in Holy Trinity church we visited the final resting place of Shakespeare and his family. Our day of travel, culture and pens concluded with meeting our host families who served us a hot dinner and provided a warm bed. 

Sunday morning brought us breakfast and excitement because we were about to say hello to Legoland, a firm favourite among the students. Even though the weather decided to greet us with its typical English self (rain, gloom and a tad more rain) we managed to enjoy seven straight hours of thrills. One of our students even managed to win a massive cuddly dog, putting us teachers to shame since our several attempts completely failed.

With the weekend over, it was time to let the students try their hand at studying in an English school.

Over the next four days, a lesson was held in a beautiful location every morning. The students created their own restaurant menus and composed articles whilst just outside the window British rowers sailed past on the misty morning river. In the afternoons we alternated between stuffing ourselves with chocolate at Cadbury World, becoming miners at the Black Country Living Museum, walking the hallways where the lover of Queen Elizabeth I. resided, becoming a perching spot for monarch butterflies and of course doing a mad shopping dash in the holy grail that is Primark. 

Leaving our host families and sailing away from England's shores were sad moments but made easier by knowing the whole trip had been one of the most memorable experiences we could have had.

Anglie I

Our trip was 20th-27th August. Our class 7.B and some kids fromthe sixth grades visited Stratford upon Avon in Great Britain. The kids were living with families who drove them to the meeting point from which the kids went on bus to English lessons every morning. After the lessons ,the program began.Within the program the kids had an opportunity to visit some interesting places around Stratford. For example, the birthplace of famous William Shakespearem, The Black Country Living Museum which is an example of gorgeous open-air museum with shops and restaurants serviced with people in costumes. Ruins of Kenilworth castle, LEGOLAND and many others. Our last trip was a tour of an old school in Stratford in which William Shakespeare studied.

Partage ta science, un projet entre Rennes et Prague en 2019

En coopération avec l´école Dědina, Prague 6, nous avons participé au projet proposé par le collège lycée Emile Zola à Rennes.  Partage ta science, c´est le nom de projet dont le but est de partager le savoir (ainsi que le savoir-faire et le savoir-être) des élèves français et tchèques.  

Tout au long du deuxième semestre, les élèves ont échangé autour des thèmes divers. L´échange est possible grâce à l´espace internet e-twinning. Dans le cadre de leur programme en sciences, les élèves français de troisième ont observé l´impact du changement climatique sur l´océan Atlantique. De notre côté, à l´école Pod Marjankou, nous avons travaillé sur une présentation générale de la République Tchèque, de son histoire, culture et patrimoine.  

Au mois de mai, les deux classes rennaises sont arrivées à Prague pour une semaine de découverte. Les élèves Français sont accueillis par leurs correspondants tchèques, dans les familles tchèques. Notre voyage en France se réalise en juin. Une semaine pour découvrir la France: le collège Emile Zola, les villes de Rennes et de Saint Malo, la côte atlantique, le Mont Saint Michel et Paris. Nous étions ravis de connaitre les familles de nos correspondants ainsi que le fonctionnement d´une école bien différente. Nous avons toujours trouvé de thèmes qui nous unissent.  

Nous sommes ravis d´avoir participé à ce projet et c´est avec plaisir que nous y participerons l´année prochaine.

My experience in the Netherlands

About a week before we arrived in the Netherlands we got contact details for our paired student, but it was still funny to guess which one is him or her. When we arrived in the Netherlands we had some time to get to know each other personally during the welcome lunch. Then our family came for us and I met them for the first time. The whole week we were mostly travelling by bicycles, so it was nice to reawaken our cycling skills, because our winter is too cold to cycle. A lot of people there told me that we were lucky, because it rained only once and only for about ten minutes. Our new friends were very nice, they organised small parties for us which were great. But the best was the penultimate meeting on the beach, where we had a picnic and played rugby, we stayed until dark. I liked the Netherlands a lot, because of the nature, beautiful architecture and mostly because a lot of people were travelling by bicycle.

The Netherlands is definitely a country which I would like to visit at least one more time, but for a much longer period.

Vor Weihnachten machten wir einen Ausflug nach Wien. Wir wollten Sehenswürdigkeiten kennenlernen und die Weihnachtsatmosphäre genießen. Das Programm war agwechslungsreich.

Wir sahen Hundertwasserhaus, waren im Vergnügungspark Prater, besuchten sehr interressantes Museum Time Travel mit 5D Kino, bummelten duch die Stadtzentrum und genoßen Christkindelmärkte

am Schloss Schönbrunn und vor dem Rathaus. Kinderpunsch, Bratwurst und Sacher schmeckten sehr gut.
